Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Francis Parker walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since April 23rd.

Francis Parker took Canyon Crest Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 15-13.

Miles Custer paced Francis Parker's offense, picking up 30 kills. Custer got some help from Mike Smith and his 33 assists. Smith also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Kevin O'Brien, racking up two apiece.

Francis Parker is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-12 record this season. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their defeat ended a 24-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 41-3.

Coming up, Francis Parker will challenge Mater Dei at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Monarchs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. Canyon Crest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
