Softball Game Preview: Combs Coyotes vs. Dysart Demons

Combs has gone a perfect 9-0 against Dysart recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Coyotes will host the Demons at 3:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Combs has three straight victories, Dysart has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Combs took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Mary's, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Coyotes won by a run and slipped past the Knights 6-5. While the Coyotes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kayleigh Snyder was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Sophie Pearson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jackie Newman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Dysart's offense. They came up short against Parker on Thursday, falling 11-0.

Combs' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Dysart, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Combs came out on top in a nail-biter against Dysart when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 18-16. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
