Soccer Recap: Gillespie Comes Up Short

After soaring to 13 goals the game before, Gillespie was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Litchfield Purple Panthers. The shutout was out of character for Gillespie seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

With the defeat, Gillespie broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8-2. As for Litchfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Gillespie and Litchfield will both be playing East Alton-Wood River the next time they take the pitch. The Miners will host the Oilers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Purple Panthers will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on the 17th.
