Football Recap: Bryan Takes a Loss

Bryan extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They took a blow against the Midway Panthers, falling 49-10. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 618th, while the Panthers are ranked 50th).

As for Midway, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Lathan Whisenton and Jeyden Fields-Vaughn. Whisenton rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries while Fields-Vaughn rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Whisenton has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bryan will take on rival Killeen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Midway is set to face off against their familiar foe Copperas Cove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
