Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Cape Fear Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The matchup between them and the Southeastern Christian Academy Warriors didn't end well, with the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles falling 54-37. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Warriors are ranked 236th).

When it comes to explaining why Cape Fear Christian Academy lost on Saturday, don't look at Caden Scarborough. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Ellis, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Leading Southeastern Christian Academy to victory were Uzziah Marlowe and Kolby Smith. Marlowe went 6 of 10 on his way to 22 points, while Smith put up 12 points and four steals. What's more, Smith also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Ziyon Smith, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Southeastern Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Fear Christian Academy will head out to take on Riverside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southeastern Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Liberty Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.
