Baseball Recap: River Dell Takes a Loss

River Dell extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They lost 13-7 to the Pascack Hills Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 last Wednesday.

Chris Kelm and Mason Nagle stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kelm got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Nagle went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Michael Porco, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

As for Pascack Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Pascack Hills' side, Eddie Mulligan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Mulligan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Pascack Hills: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Anthony Blackford was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those home runs marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Ginsberg, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, River Dell will venture away from home to challenge Emerson at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pascack Hills, they will host St. Mary at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
