Baseball Game Preview: Fordham Prep Rams vs. Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders

Fordham Prep has gone a perfect 3-0 against Monsignor Scanlan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Fordham Prep came up short against Moore Catholic and fell 6-3. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Derek Soroa put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Soroa was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Jack McKillop and Lucas DeJesus stepped up to the plate in a big way. McKillop got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while DeJesus went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. McKillop has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Scanlan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against St. Raymond Boys, falling 21-6.

Monsignor Scanlan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Curiel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Alex Lorenzo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Fordham Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Monsignor Scanlan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Fordham Prep took their victory against Monsignor Scanlan in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
