Volleyball Recap: Upper Lake Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Clear Lake on Tuesday, Upper Lake came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cloverdale Eagles on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Upper Lake started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-16.

Alyssa John paced Upper Lake's offense, picking up 15 kills. John got some help from Camila Martin and her 19 assists. Finally, Aimee Schaefers kept Upper Lake's defense grounded, leading the team with 13 blocks.

Upper Lake's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Cloverdale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Upper Lake is set to square off against their familiar foe Kelseyville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cloverdale will challenge rival Clear Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
