Basketball Recap: Chatham Beats Nelson County for Their Second Straight Victory

Chatham won the last time they faced Nelson County, and Sydney Ward did her part to make sure it happened again. The Chatham Cavaliers took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 56-6 win over the Nelson County Governors thanks in part to Ward, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Jakiyah Giggetts, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Chatham's points.

The victory made it two in a row for Chatham and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Nelson County, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Chatham will head out to challenge Patrick County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Nelson County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 32-18 defeat against William Campbell on the 31st.
