Baseball Recap: Old Forge Wins Going Away Against Honesdale

While Old Forge put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Honesdale. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Hornets. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

TJ DiMattia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Old Forge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jake Iacavazzi was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jake Bartnikowski also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Old Forge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Honesdale only posted an OBP of .118.

Old Forge now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Honesdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Old Forge will host Lackawanna Trail at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Honesdale, they will venture away from home to take on Lake-Lehman at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
