Softball Game Preview: Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils vs. Herron Achaeans

The Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils will face off against the Herron Achaeans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Indianapolis Shortridge has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Indianapolis Shortridge couldn't beat Herron on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Blue Devils lost 22-8 to the Achaeans.

Herron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only posted an OBP of .444.

The victory (which was Herron's third in a row) raised their record to 11-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Indianapolis Shortridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Herron struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
