Hoover came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Hillcrest Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. The Buccaneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Hoover's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hillcrest beat Hoover by a score of 6-1 later that day.
