Basketball Recap: Wekiva Falls Despite Big Games from Makayla Bell and Tiana Washington

Wekiva and East River squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Wekiva had to settle for second. They fell to the East River Falcons 47-43. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Wekiva's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tiana Washington, who went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points and five boards, and Makayla Bell, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points along with seven assists and five steals. That's the most assists Bell has posted since back in December of 2024.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for East River, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Wekiva does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East River, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the East River Falcons duke it out with the Edgewater Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
