Football Game Preview: Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns vs. Jasper Bulldogs

The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns will challenge the Jasper Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hamshire-Fannett is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Silsbee on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Longhorns came up short against the Tigers, falling 41-20. The game marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Hamshire-Fannett took the loss, they still got scores from Parker Sebastian, Dwayne Long, and Pierce Pirtle.

Meanwhile, Jasper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by West Orange-Stark and fell 33-0. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 480th, while the Mustangs are ranked 204th).

Jasper's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hamshire-Fannett, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Hamshire-Fannett took their win against Jasper in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 42-20 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bulldogs' Isaiah Coleman, who rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 40 yards and one TD.
