Volleyball Recap: Sartell-St. Stephen Falls to Alexandria in First Game of Season

Sartell-St. Stephen unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Alexandria Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Sabres were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Sartell-St. Stephen actually scored more points across those five sets (115-114), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 28-26, 22-25, 25-21, 20-18.

Olivia Terhune paced Sartell-St. Stephen's offense, picking up 17 kills. Terhune got some help from Kate Thompson and her 37 assists. Terhune was also a major player on defense: she and Ava Theisen shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with five each.

Sartell-St. Stephen will take on Moorhead at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexandria, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Brainerd at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
