Football Recap: Pierce Baillargeon and Giovanni Tuggle Pace Winder-Barrow Defense

After flying high against Alcovy last Friday, Winder-Barrow came back down to earth. The Bulldoggs lost to the Habersham Central Raiders on the road by a 35-21 margin on Friday. The Bulldoggs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Winder-Barrow lost, don't look at Demetrius Dowdy. Despite the final result, he rushed for 208 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. Dowdy is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season.

While Winder-Barrow came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Habersham Central: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 45.5%. The team can thank Devonte Livingston for the heroic effort on defense: he. Winder-Barrow hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.13 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Winder-Barrow didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Pierce Baillargeon and Giovanni Tuggle. Livingston was another major factor on D, making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending three passes.

Donnie Warren was his usual excellent self, rushing for 253 yards and two scores for Habersham Central. Those 253 rushing yards gave Warren a new career-high.

Winder-Barrow now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Habersham Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
