Basketball Recap: Hemingway Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hemingway can now relate to. They took a blow against the Cross Trojans on Monday, falling 73-41. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Trojans are ranked 93rd).

Hemingway's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jabari Pearson, who en route to 14 points, and Tristen Stuckey, who posted seven points.

Leading Cross to victory were Caden Ramsey and Preston Fuller. Ramsey dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards, while Fuller almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Ramsey is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Wright, who had five points along with nine steals and five boards.

Hemingway has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. Cross' victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

Hemingway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cross, they have already played their next match, a 56-55 loss against Carvers Bay on the 19th.
