Softball Recap: Holy Cross Has No Trouble Against Poteet

While Holy Cross put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Poteet. Everything went the Holy Cross Knights' way against the Poteet Aggies as the Holy Cross Knights made off with a 10-0 victory. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Haven Castillo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Leena Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Genesis Medrano, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Holy Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Holy Cross' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Poteet, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Holy Cross didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-0 win against John F. Kennedy on the 4th. As for Poteet, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-2 defeat against Marion on the 4th.
