Softball Recap: Delaware Christian Wins Going Away Against Shekinah Christian

Delaware Christian won the last time they faced Shekinah Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Flames. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ava Hovda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Katie Hobbs was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Cosette Stump was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delaware Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They got ten more hits than Shekinah Christian's also-impressive total of 11.

Delaware Christian now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Shekinah Christian, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delaware Christian will venture away from home to face off against Berne Union at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shekinah Christian, they will head out to square off against Liberty Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
