Austin Sutton and Adrian Torres provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Chavez. The longest such play in South Sequoia this season, the connection resulted in 66 yards.
Shafter scaled the state rankings by moving to 575 from 616 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Generals climbed the ranks as a result of besting Taft 21-17.
Brandon Jones threw for 405 yards and 9 touchdowns. He went 16-20 with 0 interceptions.
Torres was the best receiver in the league this week as Wasco topped the Titans. Torres tallied 2 receptions for 103 yards. Terrance Grinner helped Wasco's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 39 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Jones of Bakersfield Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,239. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Richard Nourse. The Shafter star has 21 catches for 388 yards.
The Eagles are currently in third, while Shafter is in second.
Bakersfield Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in South Sequoia. Earlier in the week, Jerald Pierucci's team defeated Kennedy 83-0.
