Dennis Brunson leads a balanced attack to beat Kensington

The Freire Charter Dragon entered their tilt with the Kensington KENSINGTON TIGER with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Freire Charter sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Kensington on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Freire Charter has posted yet this season.

Freire Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dennis Brunson, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Brunson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ibrahim Mahmoud, who scored 14 points.

Kensington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jovan McCants, who scored 17 points. McCants is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Deanthony Rodriguez, who scored ten points.

Freire Charter has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Kensington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Franklin Learning Center the next time they take the court. Kensington will head out to face Franklin Learning Center at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, while Freire Charter will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
