Baseball Game Preview: Delta Huskies vs. Monroe Catholic Rams

Delta hasn't had much luck against Monroe Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Delta will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Hutchison on Saturday. The Huskies blew past the Hawks 19-12.

Meanwhile, Monroe Catholic faced Palmer in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Moose. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

The result came thanks to Brian Bast's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Monroe Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gage Goble, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The win got Delta back to even at 1-1. As for Monroe Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6-1.

Delta suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Monroe Catholic when the teams last played on Saturday. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
