Baseball Recap: Linden Takes a Loss

Linden couldn't beat Dunellen on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Tigers lost 13-6 to the Destroyers. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Armando Agusti was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Anthony Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Linden's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Dunellen, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Linden is taking a road trip to take on Colonia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dunellen, they will host Timothy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dunellen is facing Timothy Christian at the right time seeing as Timothy Christian is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
