Port Neches-Groves took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Kingwood Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Port Neches-Groves got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 23-25, 15-12.

Kingwood Park's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Ava Etheridge and Kaely Evans. Etheridge had 13 digs and two assists, while Evans had eight kills and five digs.

Port Neches-Groves' victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Kingwood Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Port Neches-Groves will look to defend their home court on Friday against Anna at 1:00 p.m. As for Kingwood Park, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Splendora at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
