Montclair has gone 9-1 against Ontario recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Montclair Cavaliers will venture away from home to face off against the Ontario Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

Montclair fell victim to Don Lugo and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Conquistadores by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.

Makayla Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. That one earned run gave her a new career-low.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ontario challenged Diamond Ranch on Wednesday. Ontario fell just short of Diamond Ranch by a score of 9-7.

Kailey Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Montclair's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Ontario, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-5.

Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Montclair has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Ontario struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Montclair was able to grind out a solid victory over Ontario in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montclair since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
