Basketball Recap: Norfolk Collegiate Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Norfolk Collegiate had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Northside - Pinetown Panthers 70-50. Given the Mighty Oaks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 53rd in Virginia, while the Panthers are ranked 246th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norfolk Collegiate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Burrough, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Burrough is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Josh Mills was another key player, putting up nine points along with five assists and four steals.

Northside - Pinetown lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kevin Berrelleza, who posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave Berrelleza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zi'Mier Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.
