Preview: Marksville Tigers vs. Alexandria Trojans
Marksville is 2-8 against Alexandria since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-36, which was the final score in Marksville's tilt against Peabody on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Marksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Peabody is ranked sixth).
Meanwhile, Alexandria's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southside.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyshawn Duncan, who scored nine points. Chavez Whitehead was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Marksville's record now sits at 8-7. Alexandria's record now sits at 7-4.
Marksville was taken down by Alexandria 82-43 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Marksville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
