Basketball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Metlakatla Chiefs

Petersburg hasn't had much luck against Metlakatla recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Petersburg Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Metlakatla Chiefs at 12:45 p.m. Petersburg will be strutting in after a win while Metlakatla will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Petersburg turned things around against Craig on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 41-34.

Meanwhile, Metlakatla faced Mt. Edgecumbe in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Metlakatla took a hard 68-51 fall against Mt. Edgecumbe. It was the first time this season that the Chiefs let down their fans at home.

Petersburg's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Metlakatla, their loss dropped their record down to 18-4.

Things could have been worse for Petersburg, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-29 loss to Metlakatla when the teams last played back in February. Can Petersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
