Basketball Game Preview: West Liberty Comets vs. Wilton Beavers

West Liberty hasn't had much luck against Wilton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The West Liberty Comets will head out on the road to challenge the Wilton Beavers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

West Liberty will face Wilton after dropping another heartbreaker against Mid-Prairie on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. West Liberty took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mid-Prairie. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, Wilton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 84-79 to Tipton. The loss continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Wilton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for West Liberty, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

West Liberty strolled past Wilton in their previous matchup last Friday by a score of 68-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Liberty since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
