Baseball Recap: Downey Comes Up Short

Downey was the 6-3 winner over Cerritos when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. Downey fell 7-3 to Cerritos on Friday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Downey saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fabian Lopez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Downey's record now sits at 9-4. As for Cerritos, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Downey will host Bellflower at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Downey is facing Bellflower at the right time seeing as Bellflower is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cerritos, they are taking a road trip to challenge Woodrow Wilson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodrow Wilson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Cerritos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
