Basketball Recap: Sangre de Cristo Comes Up Short

Sangre de Cristo lost against Primero back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds received a blow as they fell 43-29 to the Primero Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 107th).

It was another big night for Brett Kendall, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds for Primero. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kendall has scored at least a third of Primero's points.

Sangre de Cristo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Primero, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Sangre de Cristo and Centennial will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Primero, they and Walsh will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
