Basketball Recap: Republic County Comes Up Short

Republic County lost against Beloit back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Republic County Buffaloes were outmatched by the Beloit Trojans and fell 62-32. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Trojans are ranked 60th).

Eli Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds for Beloit. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Grant Larsen also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Republic County dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Beloit, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Republic County has already played their next matchup (against Washington County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Beloit will challenge Phillipsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Beloit's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
