Softball Game Preview: Somerset Christian Cougars vs. Wayne County Cardinals

Somerset Christian is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Wayne County Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Somerset Christian hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Somerset Christian fell victim to Paris and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They came up short against the Greyhounds, falling 18-0.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Wayne County finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Allen County-Scottsville. The Cardinals' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Somerset Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Wayne County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Somerset Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Wayne County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
