Recap: Warren Central Warriors vs. Lawrence North Wildcats

It was a good run, but the Warren Central Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 61-53 to Lawrence North. While losing is never fun, Warren Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Lawrence North is ranked fifth).

When it comes to explaining why Warren Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Denyha Jacobs. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds. Jacobs scored a full 43.4% of Warren Central's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Denell Jacobs, who scored 13 points.

Lawrence North was led to victory by Kya Hurt and Jamaya Thomas. Hurt scored 11 points along with 5 steals, while Thomas scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds. The match was Hurt's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamara Mills, who scored 11 points.

Warren Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lawrence North, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Warren Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Indianapolis Crispus Attucks at 6:30 p.m. on December 13th. As for Lawrence North, they will head out on the road to face off against Lawrence Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lawrence Central will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
