Softball Game Preview: Tri-County Cavaliers vs. South Newton Rebels

For the second straight game, Tri-County will face off against South Newton. The Cavaliers will take on the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tri-County has six straight wins, South Newton has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Tri-County got the win against South Newton by a conclusive 14-1. Considering the Cavaliers have won 17 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Madilyn Nevitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Grace Luck was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Bella Dominguez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Tri-County's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for South Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
