Baseball Game Preview: Solon Comets vs. Nordonia Knights

For the second straight game, Solon will face off against Nordonia. The Comets will take on the Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Solon has lost three straight at home , while Nordonia has lost six on the road (dating back to last season).

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Solon turned things around against Nordonia on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 3-0 shutout. The three-run effort marked the Comets' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

For Nordonia's part, Evan Leitner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Nordonia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Leffel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Solon's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Nordonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
