Baseball Game Preview: West Lyon Wildcats vs. Unity Christian Knights

The West Lyon Wildcats will face off against the Unity Christian Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Lyon knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Unity Christian likes a good challenge.

On Friday, West Lyon got the win against Okoboji by a conclusive 12-1. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Unity Christian's offense. They came up short against St. Mary's on Saturday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

West Lyon's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11 runs thus far. As for Unity Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

West Lyon couldn't quite get it done against Unity Christian when the teams last played back in July of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
