Baseball Game Preview: Anderson County Mavericks vs. Sweetwater Wildcats

The Anderson County Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Sweetwater Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Anderson County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cumberland Gap with a sharp 14-0 victory. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Nolan Benson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trent Strickland, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater made easy work of Tellico Plains on Tuesday and carried off a 12-4 victory.

Anderson County's record now sits at 19-7. As for Sweetwater, their record is now 16-6.

Anderson County couldn't quite finish off Sweetwater in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 7-5. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
