Softball Recap: Cypress Ranch Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cypress Ranch can now relate to. They fell just short of the Klein Bearkats by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bearkats: they've now lost three in a row.

Layla Gallardo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Cypress Ranch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Crowl, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Cypress Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Klein, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Cypress Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Klein, they will square off against Oak Ridge on May 3.
