Basketball Recap: Chariho Chargers vs. Westerly Bulldogs
Chariho was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Westerly Bulldogs, falling 80-56. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Chariho still got an impressive performance from Aidan R, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points. Sawer Mason also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Chariho was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. This was only their eighth loss (out of 11 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Westerly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maurice Dunn led the charge by putting up 15 points. Easton French was another key player, posting 12 points.
Chariho's record now sits at 4-11. As for Westerly, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Chariho didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-32 defeat against Rogers on the 29th. As for Westerly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-39 loss against Mt. Pleasant on the 31st.
