Volleyball Recap: Portage Indians vs. Michigan City Wolves

After losing to Michigan City the last time they met, Portage decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Indians walked away with a 3-1 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Portage walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-18, 25-8, 21-25, 25-20.

Portage can attribute much of their success to Kalina Navarro, who had seven digs and six aces. Those seven digs gave Navarro a new career-high. Melanie Huley also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Portage was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in four consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Michigan City still got an impressive performance from Cecelia Beyer, who had 19 digs and seven assists.

Portage now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Michigan City, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
