Football Game Preview: Kountze Lions vs. Warren Warriors

The Kountze Lions will take on the Warren Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kountze will be strutting in after a win while Warren will be coming in after a defeat.

Kountze is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Trinity, posting a 63-35 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their 12-point performance the game before.

Dontrell Etienne was his usual excellent self, rushing for 286 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 130.4 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, Warren was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Woodville and fell 62-0. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1038th, while the Eagles are ranked 474th).

Kountze's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Kountze against Warren in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 43-6 win. In that matchup, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 36-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
