Calexico proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Escondido Cougars, sneaking past 6-4. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Calexico got a great performance from Antonio Gonzalez as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Gonzalez has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ander Garcia was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Randy Baez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Calexico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Escondido, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-9.

As of now, neither Calexico nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
