Recap: Lake Brantley Patriots vs. Umatilla Bulldogs

The Lake Brantley Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Umatilla, falling 69-39. While losing is never fun, Lake Brantley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Umatilla is ranked 170th).

Herva Brutus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Umatilla, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 18 rebounds, and ten steals. Brutus is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalee Duncan, who scored 17 points along with two steals.

Lake Brantley dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Umatilla, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Brantley will take on Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Umatilla, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Wekiva focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
