Baseball Recap: Marlington Find Success

Marlington lost to Perry back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Dukes came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dukes.

Parker Woods made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Woods was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Woods wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Smith also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

The victory got Marlington back to even at 2-2. As for Perry, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Marlington will venture away from home to square off against Carrollton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Perry, they will host Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Polar Bears will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
