Basketball Recap: Timberlake Christian Takes a Loss

Timberlake Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-29 last Thursday.

Despite the loss, Timberlake Christian still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Dowd, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Bennett Portnoy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Josh Bisnett was nothing short of spectacular for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy: he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Bisnett a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Ethan Hahn, who posted nine points and four steals.

Timberlake Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timberlake Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christian Heritage Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they will take on Craig County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
