Soccer Recap: Andress Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Andress's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Canutillo Eagles onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given Andress' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Canutillo is ranked 520th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sebastian Blakley-Rojo and Gustavo Barboza scored both of Andress' goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Andress picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 7-3. As for Canutillo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andress will challenge El Paso at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Paso is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4 goals per game this season. As for Canutillo, they will face off against Burges at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burges will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Canutillo surely won't give up without a fight.
