Baseball Recap: Barker's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Barker nor Newfane made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Bulldogs never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Panthers since April 27, 2022.

Not much got past Jackson Prynn, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Newfane off the board. Prynn is becoming a predictor of Barker's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Barker's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Monaco, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Tristen Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Barker's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Newfane, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barker will take on Perry at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newfane, they will face off against Webber at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
