Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans vs. Monticello Sages

St. Joseph-Ogden is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Monticello is on a ten-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will welcome the Sages at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Monticello 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, St. Joseph-Ogden earned a 6-1 victory over Maroa-Forsyth.

Meanwhile, Monticello got themselves on the board against Warrensburg-Latham on Saturday, but Warrensburg-Latham never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Cardinals. The Sages might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

St. Joseph-Ogden's win bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Monticello, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

St. Joseph-Ogden came up short against Monticello when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 9-5. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
