William Monroe had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the New Kent Trojans on Monday, sneaking past 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won four matchups in a row.

William Monroe pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Kent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-4.

William Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-4 loss against Abingdon on the 13th. New Kent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
